My name is Conrad Quilty-Harper. I’m a History and Politics graduate from the University of Hull, currently studying for an MA in Investigative Journalism at City University.
At the moment I’m helping out with Catch21 Productions, a charity that seeks to represent and engage young people who have an interest in politics. They bring politicians and figures of authority face to face with the issues that young people encounter in their daily lives through an online video series and panel-style events held across the country. They also do some competitive video production and website design and development services, with a proportion of each sale invested back into the charity.
I’ve done work experience for Channel 4 News (where I wrote and researched articles for the online team, appeared as a mad scientist on news reports, and interviewed presenters like Samira Ahmed for my City University Broadcast Journalism MA application), Press Gazette (you can see my blog articles here, and my news articles on the main site), the Independent on Sunday, and the Daily Telegraph, where I worked on their online coverage of the general election.
I used to work at Mahalo in Santa Monica, CA, where I helped produce Mahalo Daily and promote the company to the world’s press.
Before that I wrote for Engadget, Joystiq, TUAW and Live 8 Insider, where I researched, wrote and published over 1,600 blog posts.
I have: fought my way to the front of a John McCain press haggle, live-blogged the launch of the UK iPhone and asked Steve Jobs the first question at the press conference, covered CES twice, once as a blogger and once as a cameraman/producer/editor, edited dozens of semi-live Comic-Con videos, covered a live test drive of the first production Tesla Roadster, and massively insulted William Shatner.
