I made the stupid mistake of signing up to a ChatGPT business account which makes it very hard to export data from your account.
So many people are complaining about this it’s unreal.
Look! No export option! What the fuck!
For whatever reason, OpenAI doesn’t allow you to export the data via the interface, and its GDPR bulk export data option doesn’t work for business accounts either. That means anyone who upgrades from a personal to a business account is essentially locked into the account, unless they manually export each chat, which is painstakingly slow and annoying.
I’m not going to sit there and manually copy and paste every item, so instead I used my new AI tool to write a tool which does that clicking for me.
Here’s a screenshot of what it creates: a little HTML viewer that lets you search your archive, and all the files and chats are neatly organised in a folder.
